Lenten Challenge

Join Jess and Amy writing a letter-a-day for Lent (yes, they are still writing!). Or if you missed Lent pick another 40-day period and challenge yourself to this daily practice.

Each Day …

  • Read 9 pages of Love & Salt.
  • Write a letter to a friend (hopefully the same friend each day). Write about your daily life, your doubts, struggles, stories, histories, but above all keep the focus on faith. On a given day, if you can’t think of anything to write, don’t worry about it, write something boring or ridiculous, but keeping the practice going.

At the end of 40 days you will have deeper relationship with yourself, a friend, and God. And you will have a stack of letters from your friend that you will cherish forever. Goethe once said that a letter is “the most beautiful, the most immediate breath of life.” To hold letters from a friend is close to holding a piece of their soul. And you will hold these letters with the reciprocal knowledge that you offered a similar gift.
